BLP Set the Carbon Challenge

Doncaster based furniture components manufacturer, BLP UK Ltd have once again taken part in the Technology Challenge with Business & Education South Yorkshire for 2007.

As more emphasis is put on business’s with relation to their carbon footprint and the environment. BLP thought that this subject would make an interesting project for the schools and set the challenge to design a corporate character that is to be used within an internal awareness campaign at BLP and to also identify ways in which the company could reduce its environmental impact.

The winning school was Sheep Dip Lane School at Hatfield, who were commended for their research and understanding of the subject as well as the quality and creativity of their work.

"The environment is a very important concern within our business", explains Andrew Thorpe, Director at BLP. " We are always looking for new ideas of how we can minimise our impact on the environment. This project has been a huge success in helping to raise awareness and develop and understanding of this important subject".

BLP were delighted with how much effort all the pupils had put into this project, particularly in designing the character, which was obvious from the results that they all thoroughly enjoyed this part of the project.

BLP will be sponsoring the winning school with the planting of a tree which will take place in September and they will also be using the winning the character within their own internal campaign.
